Sharing our love of glass is a passion, so it's only natural that we enjoy teaching others how to create their own glass designs. Being part of a student's beginning journey into the world of hot glass is always an exciting and creative adventure for us here at Reflections in Glass.

Beadmaking Classes

We offer one-on-one instruction in our Portland, Oregon studio. The classes are divided into three, three hour sessions as we find this to be a comprehensive yet fun way to learn the joys of beadmaking.

We believe in the "learn by doing" method of teaching so after a lesson on safety and some short demos, you will be "put to the torch" for hands on instruction.

As you become accustomed to, and even skillfull at working with the torch, we will guide you along in the process of making your own unique and truly beautiful beads.

Cost: $180 plus a $10 Material fee

Fused Glass Jewelry Classes

Like the Beadmaking Classes, you will be taught how to make fused Glass Jewelry in our Portland, Oregon studio. Classes include ten hours of instruction and are limited to two students per class.

After some basic design and glass cutting instruction you will be free to follow your own creative vision. Students will learn how to use multiple firings, cold working methods and careful craftsmanship in the development of their own style. You will be using colored glass and a special type of material called dichroic glass to design and create wearable art which includes post and French ear-wire earrings, plus several different styles of pendants.

Fused Glass Workshop

Like the other classes, you will be taught how to make fused glass in our Portland, Oregon studio.

We offer a one - day workshop. This course is an introduction to basic fusing, glass cutting and studio safety. Fusing and slumping schedules will be covered in this class. You will create either a small tile, bowl, or a plate and some jewelry for you to keep. Your project for this class will then be an 8 inch plate. We will also introduce some ideas for hanging your glass.

The class is 4 hours long and is limited to two students per class.

Introduction to Glass Fusion

This second option is more in depth than our workshop.

After an introduction to basic fusing, glass compatibility and studio safety we start with basic glass cutting and move into our first of three projects. You will make a tile, a small plate or bowl, a fused glass pendant, make your own colored glass and experiment with a technique called kiln carving. You will then create your final project.
We will explain and demonstrate the three basic firing schedules which include tack fuse, full fuse and slumping schedules. I will also introduce some ideas for hanging your glass.
This class is ten hours long plus an hour to pick up your final project and discuss what you have learned. The student can choose wether they would like to do it two 5-hour classes or 10 hours split between three days.
Limited to two students per class.

Cost is $200 Plus a small material fee for final project (determined by project selected)
